Chuck Norris was born 10. may 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma. His father is Cherokee and mother is Irish. After high school, Norris joined the air force. During his service he was sent to South Korea, where he began martial arts. He received his brown belt in judo. After the service in 1962 he returned to Los Angeles, where he opened a karate school. In his school he went to and Steve McQueen, who later encouraged norris's acting career. In 1968 won the Norris the title of world champion in the middleweight in karate. This title he held out until 1974, when he left to retire from the sport. In 1972, to Norris played his first film role, alongside Bruce Lee in the film Way of the Dragon.
